On the Saturday 17th September 2011 – Eleven members from Newcastle Deaf Social Club raised £1,064.00 by doing a five mile sponsored walk from Whitley Bay Metro station to Tynemouth Metro station. They walked around Marsden Quarry then through the town of Whitley Bay then along the promenade passing Cullercoat Harbour and Tynemouth Priory before arriving Tynemouth Metro. Big thank goes to the following members, Barry Siddons (chairperson), David Marshall, David O’Neill, Sheree O’Neill, David Allenby, Ken Pearce, Iris Luke, Tony Luke, Phil Wall, Billy Watson and Denise Davis, well done to them! Also I would like to give a special thanks to Tony Luke for organising the Sponsored Walk and he donated £100.00 toward the sponsored walk. The money collected will be halved to the Society of St Vincent De Paul and Newcastle Deaf Social Club (Building Fund) hope to do the sponsored walk again next year.
