Iris Luke retires
After over sixteen years as Administrator of Newcastle Deaf Centre Iris Luke has decided to retire and was given a great send off by all her friends and colleagues.
A fantastic buffet and farewell cake was provided by the ladies from "8 it all" who run the Thursday Luncheon Club, helped make the day very special for Iris.
She said she was looking forward to more holidays with her husband Tony and would have more time with her grandchildren.
Tony Gray the Management Committee Treasurer said he had been on the interview panel who interviewed Iris for her job and her appointment had made his job enjoyable as she was so competent in all she was asked to do.
Iris added that she would not be leaving the Deaf Centre altogether as she and husband Tony are active members of the Social Club and she also intended to call in for lunch sometimes at the Thursday Luncheon Club.
On Thursdays the Deaf Centre opens from 10 am for tea and coffee, there is a three course lunch at 12 noon for only £4 or dinner only for £3 (prices on the menu board) and a raffle with prize money!
